In order for this script to function properly, the following variables will need to be set in DATES_config.pl for the server on which the script is running:

Admin Email Address ($siteAdminEmailAddress) - address is needed to be able to receive emails from the script requesting approval of new users that do not have their email address already placed in $automaticallyApprovedEmailsFile

Script 'From' Address - to be passed to Mime::Lite.

SMTP Server - This is normally only needed on a Win OS machine. If using *nix / sendmail this line should be commented out or deleted. This script uses MIME::Lite which is included with the distribution if not available otherwise. See the pod included with it for further configuration.

Salutation, Name ($ownerName) - this name shows up at the end of many messages provided back to the users. Make it something like 'Admin', or, more personally, your actual name.

Owner Link ($ownerLink) - Link to the person who installed the script. This link is wrapped around the name above ($ownerName). Use it to link back to your personal home page for instance. If left blank, no link will be used.

MD5 hash of the admin maintaining the script ($baseListOwnerMD5) - this is used to identify the admin who is also the owner of the base list. The first person to create a login is set as the admin and owner. Set this manually if you wish to change it.

Cookie timeout ($sessionCookieTimeoutSeconds) - when the cookie times out, the user will need to log in again before being able to use the script. Note that the user's cookie is updated every time they click a link or refresh a page, so the timeout indicates the period of inactivity before the cookie expires.

Feedback script ($webMasterFeedbackScript) - this is a subroutine built into the script by default that will send any messages to the $siteAdminEmailAddress. Update this if you wish to use some external script or site.

This error message will continue to appear until you have set up the necessary 'elsif' section in DATES_config.pl that corresponds to the server on which you placed it ... or have deleted the section warning you that it won't work correctly :)
